Man convicted following crash on the M8 in Glasgow that theft officers and others seriously injured
A 28-year-old man has been convicted in connection with a crash on the M8 in Glasgow in which police officers and members of the public were seriously injured.
Dylan Hood pled guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and various road traffic offences at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday, 22 August, 2025. He will be sentenced at a later date.
The incident happened around 1.10pm on Wednesday, 24 July, 2024 when a Mercedes A45 collided with an unmarked Volvo S90 police car and a Mercedes CLS which were on the hard shoulder of the eastbound carriageway near J13 at Provan.
Two male police officers, two men from the Mercedes CLS and three men from the Mercedes A45 were all taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Road Policing Superintendent Andy Barclay said: “Our own officers and members of the public were seriously injured due to Hood’s dangerous actions that day which have had a significant impact on all those involved.
“Officers often find themselves dealing with unpredictable situations while on duty protecting the public, but it is unacceptable that they are put in harms way or injured by the irresponsible actions of others."
