Appeal following wilful fire-raising in Greenock

Detectives are appealing for information following a wilful fire-raising in Greenock.

The incident took place around 2am on Tuesday, 26 August, 2025 at a property on Sir Michael Street.

Emergency services attended and a 67-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Ruth Elder said: “This was a reckless and despicable act which could have resulted in a fatal outcome.

“I am asking anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed something suspicious to get in touch.
“Similarly, anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage is also asked to contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 0250 of 26 August.
