Appeal following wilful car fire in Renfrew

Detectives are appealing for information after a car was deliberately set on fire in Renfrew.

Around 3.25am on Sunday, 24 August, 2025, officers on patrol came across a white BMW 3 Series on fire at a property on Edgar Drive, Renfrew.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and there were no reports of any injuries.

Detective Constable Jack McElwee said: “The fire is being treated as wilful and our enquiries are ongoing.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the fire and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone with dash cam or private CCTV footage which could assist to contact us.”
