Wilful fire-raising - Coatbridge
Police are appealing for witnesses after a wilful fire-raising in Coatbridge in the early hours of Friday, 18 April 2025.
Around 1.15am, police were called to Albion Street following a report that a black Range Rover had been deliberately set alight. The vehicle, which was parked on the street, was significantly damaged as a result. There was no damage to the nearby homes and no one was injured.
Detective Constable Scott Brown, Lanarkshire CID, said:
“From our enquiries so far, two men on electric bikes, are seen near the vehicle which then catches fire.
“Both men then cycle away. One makes off onto East Stewart Street. It is not known which direction the other one goes. Both men are wearing dark clothing.
“Although no motive has been established for the attack, we don’t believe there is a risk to the wider public.
“Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area and checking local CCTV, but we’d also appeal to anyone who may have seen the men on the bikes in the area, either before or after the incident, or have any information that may assist our investigation to get in touch.
“I appreciate the fire was in the early hours of the morning, but if possible, I’d ask local residents to check any doorbell or home camera footage in case it has captured helpful footage.”
