Man sentenced in connection with serious sexual assaults in Lanarkshire
A 49-year-old man has been sentenced in connection with serious sexual assaults in Lanarkshire over a 14-year period between 2007 and 2019.
James McCall was found guilty of nine charges including four of rape and two of assault against two women and was given a 17-year extended sentence with 12 years in custody on Wednesday, 16 April, 2025 at the High Court in Glasgow.
His name has also been added to the sex offenders register.
Detective Inspector Gary Smillie, Lanarkshire Public Protection Unit, said: “McCall is an abusive individual who has shown no remorse for his violent and abusive actions.
"His offending had a profound effect on the victims and I would like to commend them for their strength in coming forward and during the investigation. I hope this sentencing goes some way to acknowledge this and brings them some comfort as they move forward in their lives.
“We are committed to bringing those responsible for sexual and physical abuse to justice, no matter the length of time that has passed. We work with a range of partner agencies to support victims and carry out investigations.
