Man jailed for life following the murder of Garry Thomson in Guardbridge
A 59-year-old man has been jailed for life following the murder of Garry Thomson in Guardbridge.
John Farquhar pled guilty and was sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison today, Friday, 4 April, 2025, at the High Court in Edinburgh.
Mr Thomson was found dead in a property in the Gairbrig Crescent area around 7pm on Wednesday, 18 October, 2023.
Detective Inspector Karen Muirhead said: Farquhar will now face the consequences of his actions.
“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Thomson as they continue to come to terms with what happened to him.
"Thankfully crimes like these are extremely rare in our communities. When such incidents take place, we will use all resources necessary to ensure we track down those responsible to bring them to justice as swiftly as possible.
“I'd like to thank the investigative team for all of their hard work on this case and the public for their assistance with our enquiries.”
