Enforcement action on E-motorcycles in Perth
Officers in Perth have been carrying out enforcement action following reports of e-motorcycles being used illegally in the area.
Community and Road Policing teams have been supported by specialist resources including the Air Support Unit drone.
Acting on a warrant, officers attended an address on Stronsay Court on Friday, 4 April, 2025, and a Sur-Ron e-motorcycle was seized.
A 41-year-old man was arrested in connection outstanding warrants and is due to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday, 7 April. He will also be reported in connection with road traffic offences.
A second Sur-Ron was seized in the South Inch area on Saturday, 5 April. The rider will be reported in connection with road traffic offences.
Road Policing Sergeant Iain MacNamara said: “The safety of all road users is a priority for us. We are aware of local concerns regarding the issue of non-compliant e-bikes, e-motorcycles and illegal e-scooters.
“Unregistered e-motorcycles can only be used on private land with the owner’s permission. They are subject to the same legal requirements as many other motor vehicles, meaning they must be insured and drivers must have a valid driving licence.
“I would encourage anyone with information or concerns about potentially illegal e-bike, e-motorcycle or e-scooter activity to speak to local officers.”
