Update - man arrested and charged following Paisley incident

A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged after emergency services were called to George Street in Paisley following a report of a car on fire around 8.15am on Monday, 2 September, 2024.

The fire was extinguished, however a number of suspicious items were found in the common close of a building nearby. Specialist resources from Police Scotland assessed these and found no threat to the public.

No-one was injured.

The 41-year-old is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court tomorrow, Tuesday, 3 September.
