Man jailed in connection with shop lifting offences in Dundee

A 35-year-old man has been jailed for three years and three months for shoplifting offences in Dundee.

Ryan Ogilvie was sentenced Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 12 March, 2024 after he committed a series of shop lifting offences in supermarkets in the city over a period of four months in 2023.

He has also been given a Criminally Sought Anti-Social Behaviour Order for a period of five years, which prevents him from entering these supermarkets.

Inspector Lucy Cameron of Longhaugh Police Station said: “During his crime spree Ogilvie committed multiple shop lifting offences daily. When challenged by supermarket staff he threatened them, causing them distress. There was also a significant financial loss for these stores.

“This will not be tolerated and anyone who has any concerns about thefts from supermarkets or shops in Tayside, they should contact Police Scotland on 101.”
