Man convicted of wilful fire-raising and danger to life in Fraserburgh

A man has been convicted in connection with a fire in Fraserburgh. 

Michal Morawski, 32, pleaded guilty to wilful fire-raising and danger to life at the High Court in Edinburgh on Thursday, 13 June, 2024. 
  
The incident happened around 3.20am on Thursday, 27 June, 2023, when Morawski set fire to a property on Glover Close with a 29-year-old woman within. 
  
He is due to be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, 7 August. 
  
Detective Sergeant Richard Cooper of Fraserburgh CID said: “This was a hugely distressing ordeal for Morawski’s victim who could have lost her life as a result of this incident. 
  
“He will now have to face the consequences of his despicable actions and I hope this will help the victim in moving forward. 
“We are committed to bringing perpetrators of such violent crimes to justice and we will always offer victims of such offences the support they need.”
