Appeal for information following assault in Cathcart Street, Greenock

Officers are appealing for information following an assault in Greenock on Saturday, 30 December, 2023.

The incident happened around 11.15pm within a premises on Cathcart Street in the town. A 42-year-old man was assaulted. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Young said: “This was a violent attack on a man who was merely trying to intervene in an ongoing disturbance.

"This assault happened at a time when there were people around and we are keen to speak to anyone who saw anything who can assist with our enquiry."
