Man sentenced for rape and sexual assault in Orkney

A 22-year-old man has been jailed for raping a child, and sexually assaulting three other children in Orkney.

At the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday, 17 August, 2023, Jacob Davies was sentenced to six years in prison with a further three year extended sentence.

He was found guilty at the High Court in Inverness on 21 July, 2023, of a number of sexual offences involving the teenagers, which took place between January 2019 and December 2020.

Detective Constable David Armes said: “Davies took advantage of his victims over a number of years and will now face the consequences of his actions in prison.

“The females involved in this case were incredibly brave to come forward and our thoughts remain with them. I hope today’s sentencing will give them some comfort and closure after all they have suffered.

“We remain committed to supporting victims of sexual crimes and thoroughly investigating those responsible by bringing them to justice, no matter how much time has passed. I would urge people to come forward to police and report it. They can be assured of being fully supported by officers and partner agencies.”
