Man arrested following Police Scotland and Trading Standards Scotland operation - East Kilbride

On Wednesday, 9 November 2022, Lanarkshire Pro-active Crime Team and Trading Standards Scotland officers executed search warrants at storage locations in East Kilbride, which resulted in the recovery of suspected counterfeit merchandise and accessories mimicking a number of luxury brands with an estimated value in excess of £1 million.

The operation also involved local authority trading standards services from Glasgow City Council, South Lanarkshire Council, and the Anti-Counterfeiting Group.

A 61-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the recovery.  Enquiries are continuing.

Detective Sergeant Graham McAdam, Police Scotland, said:

“This is a great example of partnership working which has led to a substantial recovery of what is believed to be counterfeit merchandise in the lead-up to Christmas.

“We will continue to work with partners to disrupt those involved in this type of criminality.”
