Man's identify confirmed following death in Glasgow

Police Scotland can confirm the identity of the 47-year-old man who died following an incident in the Sandyhills area of Glasgow.

Paul Byrne was seriously injured within a property in Glenalmond Street at around 7.50pm on Sunday, 1 May, 2022.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but died a short time later.

His next of kin are aware.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death.

He was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 3 May, 2022.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Kelly said: "Our thoughts remain with Paul's family at what continues to be a very difficult time for them.

"I would also like to thank the local community for their help and assistance during our investigation and to those who came forward with information."
