Man’s identity confirmed following death in Stranraer

Police Scotland can now confirm the identity of a 33-year-old man who died following an incident in Stranraer.

Gary Handling, from Stranraer, was injured during a disturbance which occurred around 11.40pm on John Simpson Drive (Monday, 6 June, 2022).

Emergency services attended and he was taken by ambulance to Galloway Community Hospital, but died a short time later.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death and is due to appear at Stranraer Sheriff Court today (Wednesday, 8 June, 2022).

Detective Inspector Graeme Robertson, Senior Investigating Officer, would like to reassure the public that officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with Gary's death.
