Serious road crash on the A78 at Irvine

Road Policing Officers are continuing their enquiries and are now appealing for witnesses after a road crash involving a van on the A78 at the Eglinton interchange on Wednesday, 12 January.

Around 11.30am on Wednesday morning, officers were called to road crash involving a Ford Transit Connect van on the southbound off-slip where the van had overturned.

Emergency services attended and the 75-year-old driver was taken to Crosshouse Hospital.  Hospital staff describe his condition as serious.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans from the Road Policing Unit at Irvine is appealing for information.  He said: “Since this crash took place we have been carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the collision and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or has dash cam footage to contact the Road Policing Unit at Irvine through 101 quoting reference 1022 of 12 January.”
