Officers appeal following wilful fireraising in Renfrew

Officers are appealing for information after an extension under construction in the Ard Road area of Renfrew was deliberately set on fire, around 11pm on Monday, 28 March.

The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured but considerable damage was caused.

Detective Constable Gordon Hunt said: “Fortunately no one was injured but this kind of wilful fire-raising will not be tolerated.

“I am asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to get in touch. If you were driving and have dash-cam that could assist with our enquiries then I would also urge you to contact us.”

Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to get in touch via 101, quoting incident number 3842 of Monday, 28 March, 2022, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
