If you're interested in becoming a police officer, special constable, or police staff member, you can join one of our online or in-person recruitment events. We hold these across the year.

At these events, you'll get the chance to ask our team questions. You'll learn about:

• the recruitment process
• what to expect from the job
• training you'll receive
• the wide range of benefits available

Drop-in events in 2026

You do not need to sign up for our drop-in events. You can just show up.

We're coming to a few communities in September 2026:

• Dumfries and Galloway: police officer recruitment van

These are for everyone, but some are focused on people from specific:

East Kilbride: police officer recruitment drop-in

If you want to learn about becoming a police officer, come to our drop-in session in Jackton, East Kilbride.

Location

This event will be at Police Scotland’s Jackton Recruitment and Training Centre, Eaglesham Road, East Kilbride, G75 8GR.

You can park on-site.

Date and time

This event will be on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.

You can come any time from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. You do not need to register.

What to expect

This event will have several activities:

• Try the mock fitness bleep test and get a feel for the physical needs of the role. If you want to take part, please wear suitable clothes and shoes.
• Meet our vetting team. You can learn about our background checks and vetting process.
• Experience our virtual reality (VR) headset. Step into the shoes of a police officer through a live-action, interactive scenario that shows you a typical day on the job.
• Chat with our probationers. Hear from new recruits about their journey and experiences in the role so far.

Lecture theatre talk times

Our recruitment team will also run some short talks. The times for these are:

• 5:40pm to 6pm
• 6:20pm to 6:40pm
• 7pm to 7:20pm

Dumfries and Galloway: police officer recruitment van

If you want to learn about becoming a police officer, you meet our recruitment team around Dumfries and Galloway in September 2026.

They will travel to different locations in our recruitment van. You do not need to register.
