Scheduled Appointment
Having contacted Police Scotland you have agreed to a scheduled appointment. Confirmation of the date, time and type of appointment can be found within the text message you have just received.
You will find below an explanation of the appointment you have booked in for. In preparation for this, please the take the time to read about the appointment type you have been given.
DCR – Direct Crime Recording
Details of the crime you are reporting will be recorded over the telephone by a specially trained member of police staff. They will phone you within a two hour window of your appointment from a withheld number or a number starting with ‘01463’. They will ask you investigative questions to make an assessment on the existence of further lines of enquiry.
LPA – Local Policing Appointment
A local policing officer will attend at your agreed location in order to discuss and progress the incident with you face-to-face.
RT Tel – Resolution Team Telephone Appointment
A police officer will phone you at or around your appointment time from a withheld number or a number starting with ‘01463’. They will discuss the incident with you and determine how it should be progressed.
Preparing for your Appointment
In preparation for your appointment please try and ensure the following:
- You have all of the relevant information (dates, times, location etc.) of the incident or crime
- If property has been stolen or damaged – please know the value of this
- If there is private CCTV / doorbell cameras / dashcam etc. – Where possible, please view this prior to your appointment
- If property has been stolen – Please have the full description and all known serial / unique reference numbers (i.e. IMEI number, bike frame number etc.) available
If you are a Retailer or Commercial Business, where possible, please ensure the member of staff who dealt with the incident is available to be spoken with at the agreed appointment time. Where this is not possible, the member of staff answering the call must be in a position to provide a detailed account of the incident.
Cancelling or changing your Appointment
If you are unable to meet your agreed scheduled appointment please contact us via 101 quoting the police incident number contained within your text message.
