Area Commander Chief Inspector Paul Robertson is the area commander and is responsible for the daily management of local personnel, performance management, community engagement and partnership working within the South Argyll (Dunoon, Cowal and Bute), Helensburgh and Lomond areas. He also has the responsibility to ensure that key performance indicators and outcomes within the Local Policing Plan are delivered. Paul bases himself between Helensburgh and Dunoon Police stations. Cowal, Bute and Helensburgh Cowall, Bute and Helensburgh are sparsely populated and has remote settlements, including 26 inhabited islands. The population is boosted by an influx of tourists at various throughout the year. Tourism, agriculture and fishing as well as the public sector are the main employers in the area.
