Man convicted in connection with the death of Billy Joe Bates in Glasgow
A man has been convicted in connection with the death of Billy Joe Bates, who died in the Milton area of Glasgow in November 2018.
He was found in Ashgill Road around 2.30pm on Sunday, 18 November, 2018 and was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he died in the early hours of Thursday, 22 November, 2018.
Dean Ferguson, 31, pled guilty to culpable homicide at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, 29 November, 2023.
He will be sentenced at a later date.
Detective Chief Inspector Lynsey Watters said: “This has been a long and complicated case and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Billy Joe. This conviction shows that no matter the length of time, we will use all the tools we have to investigate and bring people who are intent on committing crime to justice.
“I would like to thank everyone who assisted with what was a complex investigation.”
