Raymond Bell convicted of the murder of David Black in Rutherglen
A 36-year-old man has been convicted of murder following the death of 40-year-old David Black from Rutherglen.
Raymond Bell (36) was previously charged with the attempted murder of Mr Black in 2014, however appeared in the High Court in Glasgow today, Wednesday, 26 January, 2022, charged with his murder.
He was sentenced life imprisonment, with a minimum of 18 years.
On 2 November, 2014 David Black was seriously injured within a property on Lochaber Drive in the Springhall area of Rutherglen. He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with critical injuries, however died at home on Sunday, 27 October 2019.
Detective Inspector Alan McAlpine said:
“We welcome this conviction today. It is very unusual for someone to be convicted in these circumstances and therefore this has been a complex investigation.
“David Black endured a brutal and violent attack, which lead to him requiring around the clock care, and in the end resulted in his death.
“We hope that this result will be of some comfort to David’s family and friends, who have also suffered at the hands of Bell’s actions.”
