Man sentenced and given lifelong restriction order for abuse of women, Edinburgh
Police Scotland has acknowledged the sentencing of Brian McLintock who has been convicted of a number of serious offences against four women over more than a decade.
The 31-year-old from Edinburgh was previously found guilty of 14 charges, including rape, sexual assault and assault.
He was sentenced at the High Court today, Tuesday, 25 January, 2022, to a minimum of six years imprisonment and given an Order for Lifelong Restriction (OLR), which means that if he is ever released he will be subject to conditions and monitoring for the rest of his life.
Detective Inspector Adam Brown of the Edinburgh City Division Public Protection Unit said: "McLintock terrorised a number of women over a 12 year period without any apparent remorse.
“It is as a result of their courage in coming forward that he has been held accountable for his actions. The sentence and OLR should serve as an indication to perpetrators that abusive behaviour will not be tolerated."
