Q. Is there any age limit for police staff positions?
A. You have to be at least 16 years of age.
Q. Can I work shifts if I am under 18 years of age?
A. No. You can only work normal dayshift hours. Our full time contracted hours average 35 hours per week and specific work patterns for our vacancies are included in the advert and job description.
Q. Is the Force committed to the Disability Confident Scheme?
A. Yes. If you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 and meet the essential criteria for the job then you will be guaranteed an interview.
Q. I have submitted my application form to you but have since received an email telling me that it is blank when you open it – what do I have to do?
A. Before completing your application form you need to make sure that you have Adobe Reader software on your PC. Please download this free from our website and re-complete your application form and send it back to us.
Q. How long does the recruitment and selection process take?
A. On average it takes between 12 – 16 weeks however this is dependent on individuals vetting requirements and other delays that are outwith our control.
Q. If I am successful, when will I start working with Police Scotland?
A. Currently we have one induction date per month and we will always try to arrange a start date that takes cognisance of any notice periods to current employers – further information will be made available to you if you are successful.
