Chief Inspector Stuart Reid is the Area Commander for the Scottish Borders and is responsible for response policing, performance management and the daily management of personnel. He is supported by a Deputy Area Commander and Community Inspector Jacqi McGuigan in addition to a team of response Inspectors based at Melrose.
The Scottish Borders has widely dispersed communities and a population of approximately 112,000. The General Register Office for Scotland estimates this will increase to around 130,000 over the next 20 years.
The area covers a large and diverse geographical location with rolling hills, moorland, valleys, high agricultural plains and the rocky Berwickshire coastline. The Command Area’s Headquarters are based in Hawick.
