Hit and run – Ardmore Road, Port Glasgow
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured following a hit and run in Port Glasgow in the early hours of Sunday, 2 November 2025.
Around 1am, a 19-year-old man was walking on Ardmore Road near to Selkirk Road, Port Glasgow, when he was hit by a car that failed to stop. The car is believed to be a dark coloured Vauxhall Insignia.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where medical staff describe his condition as critical.
Sergeant Jack Swindells, Road Policing Unit, said:
“At this time we don’t believe this to be a targeted hit and run. The injured man had been walking home from a night out in Port Glasgow.
“We’d urge the the driver of the car to contact police.
“The area is residential and is a busy road, so it’s possible that other cars travelling on the road will have dashcam footage, or homes will have doorbell cameras, that could have captured helpful footage.
"Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area so we'd encourage witnesses or those with information to speak to them or call 101 quoting incident number 0188 of Sunday, 2 November 2025. Alternatively, details can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Ardmore Road remains closed whilst enquiries are carried out.
