Appeal for information following serious assault in Galashiels

Detectives are appealing for information after a 47-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Galashiels.

The incident happened around 5pm on Saturday, 5 July, 2025, on Melrose Road near the roundabout for Melrose Gait and the man was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as aged mid to late 30s, around 5ft 9in tall, of slim build, with short, brown hair. He spoke with a Scottish accent. He was wearing a grey top and dark trousers.

Detective Constable Bruce Dodds said: "Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed this to contact us.

"We also ask anyone who has dash-cam footage of the area at the time to come forward."
