Detectives are appealing for information following the death of a man in Kirkmuirhill.
Around 4.45am on Wednesday, 27 August, 2025, we were called to a report of two men found injured in Braeside Crescent.
Emergency services attended and a 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 35-year-old man was also taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment. His condition is described as not life threatening.
Extensive enquiries are being carried out by detectives to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
The death is being treated as suspicious, and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
Officers will remain in attendance. Vere Road, Braeside Crescent, Beechwood, Dormiston Road and Craignethan View are closed. We would ask people to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
Detective Inspector Vicki Douglas: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time. They are being supported by specialist officers.
“If you were in the area at the time of this incident and saw anything suspicious then please get in touch.
"No matter how small that piece of information might be, please come forward.
“In particular, I would ask that people in the surrounding areas check their private CCTV or doorbell footage to see if it has captured anything of significance.
“Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries at this time so there will be an increased police presence in the area. Anyone who has concerns, or information, is encouraged to approach these officers.”
Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0440 of 27 August, 2025. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
