Serious Road Crash - M80, between Castlecarey and Haggs

Police are appealing for information following a road crash northbound on the M80 near Haggs in which a man has been seriously injured.

Around 1.30 pm on Saturday, 5 February, 2022, police were called to a single vehicle road crash northbound on the M80, between J6A and J7, Haggs.

The 52-year-old male driver of the white Mitsubishi L200 Pick-up and his female passenger, aged 47 years, have been taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. The man sustained a serious head injury. Medical staff describe his condition as critical. The woman is not believed to be seriously injured.

Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick, Road Policing Unit, Stirling, said:

"We would like to hear from any motorists who witnessed the crash or anyone who can assist with our investigation. If you have any information, in particular dash-cam footage, then please contact police via 101 quoting reference number 1769 of Saturday, 5 February, 2022."

The M80 northbound remains closed from J5, Cumbernauld and will remain so for a number of hours to allow officers to carry out enquiries. Lanes 1 and 2 of the southbound carriageway have now reopened. Lane 3 remains closed. Please refer to Traffic Scotland's Twitter or Facebook for any traffic updates.
