Police seize cash and drugs in Wishaw

Officers in Wishaw have seized drugs with a street value of around £289,000.

Police stopped a car on Main Street, Overtown around 3.10pm on Wednesday, 23 February, 2022 and £63,000 of cash was seized.

A search was then carried out at a property on Greenlaw Avenue, Wishaw around 9.10pm on Wednesday 23 February 2022.Around 1 kilo of cocaine, 22kg of herbal cannabis and 26,200 diazepam tablets were discovered.

Two men, aged 35 and 27, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday, 25 February, 2022.

Sergeant John Watson from Cambuslang Police Station said: "This was significant recovery and as a result, thousands of pounds worth of drugs are off the streets. 

"I want to reassure the public that Police Scotland will continue to use every tool and tactic at our disposal to disrupt the activities of those involved in serious organised crime.

"Serious organised crime and drugs misuse brings nothing but misery to our local communities.
