Appeal after man assaulted in Lanark

Police Scotland is appealing for information after a man was assaulted within his home in Lanark.

The 31-year-old was struck with a metal weight after two unidentified men forced entry to the property at South Vennel in Lanark.

The incident happened around midnight on Wednesday, 24 June.

The man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment to serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Detective Constable Murray McMillan of Wishaw CID said:

"Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may have seen or heard any disturbance in the area to let us know.

"Information can be passed to Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0111 of 24 June, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
