Assistant Chief Constable – Local Policing West

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Johnson is the executive lead for Local Policing West.
ACC Johnson’s portfolio consists of the following business areas:

  • Greater Glasgow Division
  • Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Division
  • Argyll and West Dunbartonshire Division
  • Lanarkshire Division
  • Ayrshire Division
  • Dumfries and Galloway Division
  • Violence
  • Stop and Search
  • Disability and Carers Association
  • Religion, Faith & Beliefs

ACC Johnson started his career in the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm before joining West Midlands Police in 1995. He also served with Cumbria Constabulary.

He joined Police Scotland in 2016 as ACC for Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism with oversight of Specialist Crime Support and Intelligence Support.

He was seconded to the SPA in 2019 to lead its Strategic Coordination Unit before he was appointed into his current role in late 2019.

ACC Johnson also has interim responsibility for the Criminal Justices Services Division at present.
