Hate Crime is “any crime which is perceived by the victim or any other person as being motivated by malice and ill-will towards a social group.”
This means targeting someone because of their
- Religion / Belief
- Sexual Orientation
- Transgender Identity
Anyone can think an incident is motivated by hate and report it, even if they are not the intended victim.
If someone thinks the incident is a hate crime the police will record and investigate it as one.
