Tickets for the 2020 Senior Women in Policing Conference (SWiP), being hosted by Police Scotland, are now available, it was announced today.

The conference is hosted by a different UK police force each year and this is the first time it will be held in Scotland.

A planning team led by Assistant Chief Constable Gillian MacDonald is working on the delivery of the event, which will be held in Edinburgh from Wednesday 9 September to Friday 11 September 2020. It is expected to attract senior officers, both male and female, from the UK's police services, partner agencies and from law enforcement organisations around the world.

The host force sets the conference theme, which for SWiP2020 will be Life, Leadership & Legacy. The aim is to inspire established and aspiring leaders and provide a platform to come together to foster innovation in learning and development.

Chief Constable Iain Livingstone said: "The conference will be an opportunity for leaders from across the police service both within the UK and internationally to come together to develop their careers, learn from each other and build new friendships.

"I'm delighted that we have been given the honour of hosting this event which will allow us to demonstrate how Police Scotland is committed to increasing the representation of women in all parts of our service."

The conference will include a range of keynote speakers from law enforcement, business and the third sector, while a number of interactive workshops will be on offer. There will also be the option of attending social events in the evening, with time to unwind and enjoy a bit of networking.

As tickets for the conference go on sale to our policing partners today, ACC MacDonald said: "I am delighted Police Scotland is hosting the 2020 Senior Women in Policing Conference, which will celebrate the achievements of women in policing and provide a platform for development and discussion to inspire a new generation.

"Policing has changed drastically over the years and I am proud to work for a service which is committed to increasing and improving diversity, encouraging women at all levels across the organisation.

"SWiP2020 is a brilliant opportunity to learn from colleagues, share our expertise and shape our service for the future and we are looking forward to welcoming colleagues from across the world to join us in Edinburgh next year."
