Appeal following sexual assault, Elgin

Police in Elgin are appealing for information following the report of a sexual assault in the early hours of today (Friday 21 June 2019).

The incident occurred at around 1.00am and involved the sexual assault of a 33 year old woman in the area of Doocot Park close to North Street.

A man police would like to trace in connection with this incident has been described as being aged in his twenties, of slim build, around 5’7” – 6’0” in height who was wearing a black hooded top. He was last seen walking into Doocot Park. 

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Andrew Sharp said : “The victim was not injured as a result of this incident but was understandably left shaken. A cordon is currently in place whilst enquiries into the incident are carried out.

“These type of incidents are rare in the North East of Scotland and extra patrols will be carried out in the area as a result.

“If anyone recalls seeing or hearing anything unusual or recalls seeing a man going into or leaving Doocot Park in the early hours of this morning to get in touch with police with any information they have.”
