Man Seriously Assaulted by Man and Woman - Riddrie, Glasgow

Police Scotland officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed a man being assaulted in the Riddrie area of Glasgow last night, Thursday, 18 July 2019 to come forward.

Around 11.50 pm the 23-year-old man was walking alone in Gartcraig Road near to the bookmakers shop when he was approached by a man and a woman. Words were exchanged between them before he was attacked by being kicked and punched and his head was stamped on. He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and released after treatment for serious head and facial injuries.

The couple responsible were last seen making off in the direction of Warriston Street. The man is described as wearing dark clothing and the woman is described as having dark hair, wearing dark clothing, a baseball cap and hooped earrings.

Officers are currently carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the local area and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the man and woman involved.

Detective Sergeant Colin Thapar, of Greater Glasgow CID based at Shettleston, is appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and can assist the enquiry to get in touch.

He said: "Gartcraig Road is a busy road and I am sure there would have been other people in the area or motorists driving past. If you recognise the description of the man and woman or have dashcam footage of the incident please get in touch as soon as possible. Please call 101 and quote incident number 4807 of 18 July 2019.
