Shaping approaches through youth engagement

Published 19 August 2019

Police Scotland want to listen to young people and learn about their views of the police - how we're currently working and what we could do better. We want to understand the issues that affect young people and influence the way the Police work, now and in the future.

As part of this engagement, Safer Communities officers recently attended TRNSMT, Tartan Heart, Belladrum and Party at the Palace festivals where 450 young people took our survey on electronic tablets giving their feelings and opinions about how people their age interact with the police. In addition, over 340 people have given their views through the publicly available survey 2019 https://consult.scotland.police.uk/strategy-insight-and-innovation/young-people-engagement.

Scottish music superstar Lewis Capaldi was at TRNSMT lending his support to our youth engagement initiative.

Our survey officially launched on 11 July and will remain open until 1 December 2019. Responses will be analysed and used to inform a refresh of our 10 year strategy, including our approaches to contact, engagement and prevention .
