Assault with intent to rob - Johnstone

Detectives are appealing for information after an assault with intent to rob in Johnstone on Friday 19 April 2019.



Around 12.05am on Friday morning, a 29 year-old man was making a takeaway delivery and walking in Cochranemill Road, Johnstone when he was approached by a man who was threatened him with a conductive energy device and a metal implement then demanded his car keys and money.  Then he assaulted the 29 year-old man.



The victim managed to make it back to his Nissan Mirca car which had his partner and their three year-old daughter inside, however the suspect ran after the car and smashed the passenger side windows before the car drove off onto Beith Road.



The three year-old girl sustained cuts to her legs during this incident.



Detective Inspector Robert Bowie of Paisley Police Office said:  “This was a terrifying incident for this young family and luckily they were not seriously injured during this attack.



“A dark-coloured vehicle van was seen in Cochranehill Road whilst this incident took place, and I am appealing to the occupants of that vehicle to get in touch.



“At this time we are appealing to anyone who has any information on this crime to contact us as soon as possible through 101 quoting reference number 0013 of 19th April 2019.”
