Man charged following housebreaking in Hawick

Police in the Borders have charged a man following a housebreaking in Hawick.

The incident happened around 1pm on Wednesday 03 October in the Fraser Avenue area of the town.

A 20-year old man was expected to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday 4th October.

Chief Inspector Andrew McLean, Borders Area Commander, said: “Tackling housebreaking is a priority for officers in the Borders. “Thieves tend to be opportunistic so we would urge the public to take simple precautions such as making sure their homes are secure.”
