Class A drugs with a 'street' value of approximately £6,000 have been recovered during an ongoing operation to target drug dealing in Buckie.

Officers from the local policing team assisted by a dog unit and the operational support team executed a number of warrants in the town-centre over the weekend, recovering a substantial amount of Class A drugs.

A 38-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged in connection and will appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today (Monday May 21, 2018).

Inspector Neil Campbell said: "I would like to thank the local community for their patience while this activity was carried out at the weekend. High visibility action like this is crucial to disrupt potential illegal activity and to send out a clear message that drugs are not welcome in Buckie."

He added: "We will continue to proactively target anyone who chooses to involve themselves in illegal activity so that we can intercept harmful substances before they reach the hands of vulnerable people in our community. I cannot stress enough just how crucial the information we receive from the public is in helping us do this, so please continue to let us know your concerns by calling Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 to remain anonymous."
