Appeal for information following vandalism - Elgin Cemetery

Published 30 March 2018

Officers are appealing for information following a vandalism at Elgin Cemetery.

A grave which had been decorated with ornaments was targeted between 5pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday March 29, 2018) and 10.30am this morning (Friday March 30). Damage was caused to the ornaments that had been put down only that afternoon.

The grave is that of 10-year-old local boy Jayden Ravello, who sadly died last year.

PC Jamie Dey, who is leading the investigation, said: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of this appalling crime.

"Given the secluded nature of the location we are relying on members of the public who may have been at the cemetery during the times in question to please let us know if you saw anything out of the ordinary. Likewise if you have any information whatsoever about who might be responsible please contact Police on 101 quoting ref. no.  1207 of March 30 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you want to pass on information anonymously."
