We are aware of a video circulating on social media regarding an assault on a young boy in the Peterhead area taken on June 6, 2018.
Four teenagers – three aged 14 and a 16-year-old – have been charged in connection with the incident and will be reported to the Youth Justice Management Unit.
Inspector George Cordiner said: “The assault was reported to Police on the day it occurred and our officers acted quickly to charge four youths in connection and seize the mobile telep...hone that the incident was recorded on.
“We had hoped for the victim's sake that the footage would not be circulated on social media however we are aware that this is now the case and will look to investigate this aspect of the incident with a view to reporting the person responsible.
“I would like to thank all those who assisted officers during the enquiry and the wider community for joining with us and condemning such crimes and the videoing of them."
