Weed killer theft in Annan

Officers in Annan are investigating a break-in to the shop premises of J and E Mackie in High Street, Annan in which a quantity of weed killer was stolen.

Sometime between 1pm on Saturday 20th and 9am on Monday 22nd January, the premises of J and E Mackie, High Street in Annan were broken into. A quantity of Roundup weed killer, concentrated, super strength and fast action varieties were stolen in the raid. The value of the weed killer is around £400.

Constable Andrew Bloomfield said, "We are currently carrying our door to door enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage of the area. We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around the shop, either at the rear, which comes out onto the car park, or the front, which has the entrance up the lane by the Café Royal over the weekend.

"The weed killer stolen is a potent chemical and could be extremely dangerous if it got into the wrong hands, or not handled with care. We would urge anyone with any information about this crime, or coming across the weed killer, to get in touch with us immediately through the 101 number."
