Man charged in relation to break-ins in Banff

A 31 year old man has been charged in relation to two incidents of alleged theft by housebreaking at Efes Barbers and the Kelpie Café in Banff.

The incidents happened between 3 and 5 January and a mural painting at the Kelpie Cafe was extensively damaged as a result.

Sergeant Barry Riddoch said: "These incidents caused significant upset within the local community and we are grateful to the public for assisting us while enquiries were carried out.

"Police Scotland is committed to fully investigating incidents which are reported to us and I would like to remind the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police on 101."

The man is expected to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court today, Monday, 15 January.
