East Lothian's Community Action Team have arrested three people after seizing almost £10,000 worth of drugs and cash in the last week.

Acting on intelligence, officers stopped a Suzuki Swift in the Muirpark area of Tranent on Saturday 25th August.

This led to two properties being searched, and a further recovery at a nearby address. Almost £8,400 worth of cash and over £1,300 worth of cocaine were collectively seized.

Two men, aged 21 and 20, were arrested and charged and are expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 8th October.

On Thursday 30th August, a search warrant was executed at a property on Hares Close in Cockenzie. Over £200 worth of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a baton were among the items seized.

A 48-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with this, and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 13th September.

Chief Inspector Steven Duncan, Area Commander for East Lothian, said: "These seizures demonstrate the local Community Action Team's ongoing commitment to working with the public, partners and colleagues across the East to tackle drug crime.

"I'd urge anyone with information or concerns about drug offences in their community to contact Police Scotland on 101, or report this anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"Be assured that all reports will be taken seriously and action will be taken, wherever appropriate."
