Appeal for information following Stonehaven housebreakings

Published 29 September 2016

Officers are investigating two thefts by housebreaking which have occurred on the same street in Stonehaven within the last two weeks.

Between 7.15pm and 8.45pm on Friday 16 September 2016 a property on Riverside Drive in Stonehaven was broken into and a low three figure sum of cash was stolen.

On Tuesday 27 September 2016 a further property on Riverside Drive was broken into between 7.00pm and 9.30pm and antique coins worth a mid three figure sum of money were taken.

Detective Constable Norman McGlashan said: "If anyone recalls seeing or hearing anything suspicious in the area of Riverside Drive in Stonehaven on Tuesday of this week or Friday 16th September I would ask them to call police on 101 with any information they have.

"Two males were seen in the area at around 11.00pm on Friday 16 September who may be able to assist us with our enquiries. If anyone has further information on these males  they should call us on 101.

"With the nights becoming darker earlier I would remind householders to not only keep their doors and windows locked but also, if possible, to leave a few lights on in their home to make it look occupied. These simple security measures will contribute to discouraging anyone from entering your property."
