Police Scotland's 101/999 aware campaign launched on 23rd May.
The 999 emergency response number takes a number of calls every year which would be deemed more appropriate for an alternative method of contact i.e. through 101 or by direct contact with our partner agencies.
In addition Police Scotland receives nuisance calls which does have an impact on overall service delivery to the public.
This campaign is designed to reduce the number of calls to the police that are non police related and which could potentially be dealt with through a more appropriate method of contact.
The marketing campaign will run across Scotland from 23rd May - 10th June with digital and PR.
Aim is to promote the appropriate use of 101 and 999. Messages will continue to be drip fed across our digital channels until end 2016.

As well as digital and PR activity there will be extensive partner work and engagement.
