Police Scotland launched it's 'We Can Stop It' Rape Campaign on
Wednesday 8th July
to raise public awareness of what rape is and what consent really means.
The campaign itself is aimed at perpetrators of rape educating them of what actions are unacceptable and making them aware that they will be punished.
The key message of the campaign is that sex without consent is rape and that Police Scotland will work tirelessly to ensure justice is achieved for those who commit these crimes.
As well as the campaign being perpetrator focused, Police Scotland encourages victims of rape and sexual assault to come forward and report incidents to Police Scotland or a partner agency.
Supporting the 'We Can Stop It' microsite is an uncompromising and hard hitting, post watershed TV advert, which is shareable via social and digital media.
Meanwhile, the key campaign messages will be promoted across Scotland through VOD television; washroom vinyls; digital advertising and cinema.
Police Scotland is supported in its campaign by Rape Crisis Scotland, Scottish Women's Aid, ASSIST and White Ribbon Scotland, working together to intervene and prevent sexual crimes.
The organisation is also working with licensees to train bar and club staff to recognise certain situations and give them the confidence to intervene if there is a cause for concern.
