Man charged with money laundering after cash seizure on the A74(M)

A man has been arrested and charged following a significant cash seizure in Dumfries and Galloway on Friday, 8 May, 2026.

Around 8.30pm, officers stopped a Peugeot car travelling southbound on the A74(M) near Lockerbie. A search of the vehicle was carried out and around £85,000 was seized.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with money laundering. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
