Two men arrested in connection with retail crime offences

Officers investigating a spate of shoplifting incidents have arrested two men.

A joint investigation involving Edinburgh's retail crime task force and officers from Midlothian has resulted in two men, aged 32 and 34, being charged in connection with more than 60 offences linked to shoplifting and retail crime.

The offences occurred across the Midlothian and Edinburgh areas between November 2025 and March 2026.

Both men appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 30 March, 2026.

Chief Inspector Gordon Couper said: "We will continue to work closely with our partners and retailers to deal with retail crime, while continuing to work to identify and take action against those involved in this type of criminality."
